Setting up Shop

Well, I’ve done it. I actually went and started putting together a blog for my MLP fanfic. Hosting’s cheap these days, and WordPress is piss-easy to use. In the midst of a global pandemic, political upheaval, and general insanity all around, us writers have gotta do what we’ve gotta do.

Now, Revanchism is currently hosted on FimFiction, as well, and I have absolutely no problems with the way things are run over there; it’s a great site with good code, stories are presented well, and there are nice features like batch-downloading chapters as ePubs and whatnot. So, why did I make this page to mirror the story? It has to do with the limitations of fanfic hosting sites in general, where a story consists solely of chapters all bound together as a linear entity. No multimedia, no bonus content, no hypertext fiction, and so on. I thought it would be nice to have something of an encyclopedia for the setting, too, and FimFiction explicitly forbids chapters that contain only informational (i.e. non-narrative) content in their rules.

Another thing they forbid in their rules is forcing users to use off-site resources/other websites to see an entire story (i.e. posting half your chapters on FimFiction and then telling people to go to another site if they want to see the rest). That is not my intention with this site at all. The stories in their entirety will continue to be hosted on FimFiction and can be read there without missing any additional context. This repository will host the stories themselves in addition to bonus content in the form of a knowledge base, as well as artwork and other multimedia files.

I thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy what’s on offer. If you don’t quite see anything yet, pardon our dust. We’re still under construction, and I have to import a lot of stuff in.
